Aerial Arts Studio

Aerial Arts Studio

In 2010, Hannah began teaching private lessons, in a small village, working man’s club. Over the years, with the help from Hannah’s sister and instructor Kerry, classes grew in size and we hopped venues striving for better. It was Hannah’s ultimate dream to have a studio where her instructors and students could feel a sense of community, feel safe and have the facilities to grow in talent. After years of working the day time job school teaching and teaching pole classes in the evening, plus competition training here and there, an opportunity came to think about our own studio. It took 3 years to find something that was worthy of the gamble. With a fantastic growing team behind Hannah, we finally opened Aerial Arts Studio in 2019. To some it’s just an aerial and pole studio, to the instructors and members here it’s incredibly special and offers everything we’ve always wanted as a team.

Sometimes things are worth fighting for!

Instructors and students enjoy Aerial Silks, Aerial Hoop and Pole Fitness. We have over 30 children learning aerial with us now . We’re extremely proud of each and every member.

The support on a financial and moral level during lockdown has been overwhelming. Many members chose to continue paying memberships, while others supported by staying on hold. Instructors offered their free time to teach online classes. The message of courage and support has been exemplary to the girls and their attitude towards their community.

The studio is still young and we have far to go, we can’t wait to see what adventures will take place their, the journeys it will see and the opportunities it will create.

Please see images attached. For an idea of where the journey started, I’ve added some photos of 2010, they ‘ need referencing

Pure-Studios

Entrant Details

Pure-Studios

Pure-Studios was set up in 2005 by me Annie Norris. We used to be called Pure Pole, this is because I started the company when my old pole instructor moved away. She used to be called cardio pole and the I hated that part of the class as I was super unfit so I decided we would only teach pole, purely pole….so the name Pure Pole was born! A few years later we introduced Aerial Hoop, so the name already started to bug me. When we opened our satellite studio in a local town Ross-On-Wye we changed to Pure-Studios. (The hyphen in the name because we can’t get hold of the domain name without it)

I started the studio with savings from working in a bar and decided to scrap my place at university to start up Pure-Studios and 15 years on I am so glad that was my choice in life.

Over the years we have had several instructors come and go and our current team I feel is elite. I often hand pick our instructors from students. I always notice how people interact with others and when they are happy for others success, that along with a very good understanding of their apparatus. Each instructor then takes their Xpert training (to start with) and must complete 20 hours of continued professional development each year which can be done with certifications, workshops, seminars, private tuition with people outside the studio – they normally come back each year with about double the amount required!! Our team currently consists of Edd Fletcher – hoop extraordinaire (he has won pretty much every hoop competition in the Uk and competed international) Beth Thomas with 20 years ballet and contemporary experience, Jade Wozencroft up and coming in the hoop world and winner of several competitions, Vicky Fraser over 12 years experience in the air and will try anything from trapeze to pole comedy (winner Pole Theatre Comedy Amateur semi pro UK) Steph Sparks contemporary creative silks artist and our newest member Talia Wheeler strong on the trapeze and aerial straps queen.

4 years ago I managed to secure a lease on my dream studio. I saved stringently for years and finally the opportunity came up! The studio is separated into 2 rooms with a large fire retardant theatre curtain. I’ve tried to think of the best features to make our studio all welcoming. We have mirrored double glazed double doors to enter (you can see out of them but the outside cannot see into the studio) to make the studio light and airy. 2 toilets so there is enough room for people to get changed – in the toilet we offer a range of feminine products and deodorant free of charge in case anyone gets caught short. One toilet has disabled facilities too. Our flooring in the toilet areas is non slip grade in case of any water spillages. All our lighting is on a dimmer switch so we can set the mood for each class and our pole room has a rope LED light to add some funky colours. Our water from the taps is drinkable but we do offer bottle water for sale at £1. We have a surround sound system to play our music and plenty of cubby holes for students to put their belongings. There is a staff only kitchenette area where they have a kettle and microwave teas and coffee. The first aid box and certificates are displayed on the walls (all our instructors are first aid qualified) All our Aerial and Pole equipment is from X-Pole and Firetoys and all rigged from our bespoke truss.

With Covid-19 the studio has been kitted out with 5 hand sanitiser units, a one way system, social distancing stickers for people to know where to stand. Boxes marked around each equipment so people don’t go closer than 2metres to each other, posters on the walls to remind people to wash their hands, cleaning rota’s for the instructors – in fact there are so many changes to the studio to help reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19 I won’t list all of them.

Our pole room is mirrored down one side and has 5 poles approx 3.5m apart from each other. We have 4 X 45mm competition standard poles in brass, powder coated, stainless steel and chrome and 1 X 40mm competition standard chrome to give students the opportunity on different types of pole. They are just over 4m high. Our crash mats are awesome! We have – what I believe – to be the biggest crash mat for pole in the UK at 3.5m wide about 30 cm deep – made out of specialist foam that can take an impact from a 5 meter fall and limit damage to the individual. We have 2 mats for our pole room. Our Aerial Room has a pull up rig, wall bars and 5 crash mats so every single apparatus has a mat to use. We offer different sized hoops for adults and children, different height hoops from the floor for beginners through to advanced, some solid, some hollow, single points, tabless and double point. We want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to use different types of equipment. Our silks are all slightly different too not only different colours but also different textures and stretch from FireToys and X-Pole. Finally our Trapeze are static or dance (spinny) Trapeze. All aerial equipment can be set to be static or on swivels depending on the student or the apparatus.

At the studio we have an ever expanding list of classes available for people to book (these have been streamlined for our reopening but will get back to our full timetable when Covid-19 allows)

We offer all our classes and courses for everybody no matter who they are. We have students from age 7yrs old to 70 yrs old and all different genders. from Level 1, 2, 3 and also mixed in Pole Fitness, Pole Flow, Exotic Pole, Spinny Pole, Aerial Hoop Fitness and dance, Aerial Silks Fitness and Dance, Trapeze Fitness and Dance, Corde Lisse, Aerial Straps Back Bending, Front Splits, Middle Splits, Contemporary, Burlesque, Chair Dancing, Jazz Dance, Ballet, Vogue, Pop, Smoothment, Kids classes in Hoop, Silks and trapeze for different age groups. We also often teach special workshops in classes such as Lap Dance, Low Flow Swinging Trapeze and Chairlesque (Burlesque and Chair)

Smoothement is a class that I came up with, a floor based class focusing on seamless smooth movements from pose to pose, suitable for anyone. Its a lights down low, smooth, rolling around on the floor to an awesome chilled soundtrack.

There are only 2 other studios in our surrounding areas and I am proud to say both studio owners started their pole and aerial journey and trained with us for several years before starting their own studio. Its nice knowing that Pure-Studios inspired people to begin their own studio journeys and their passion for teaching was ignited by attending and teaching our classes.

During my school life I was bullied and never felt comfortable in groups of people. When I first set up the studio I wanted to make sure every single person who walked through the door felt comfortable as soon as possible. No matter what age, shape or size the person is, we want them to feel welcomed. Students who have been with us a long time will always make new people feel welcome and chat to them. In our beginners classes we often have a long standing member come to a class to make sure brand new students have someone to talk to and a friendly face to look forward to seeing when they come back. I wanted women and men who step foot in Pure-Studios to feel like they can achieve whatever they set their mind to, to make them feel so comfortable that they will try any trick, combination or flow they want to learn. As we run lots of different styles of classes I’ve also created an atmosphere where people feel comfortable to wear whatever they want to. This is important for our beginners classes for example, when people are often nervous about putting shorts on for pole and then very quickly go for it! In our exotic classes the students wear all sorts of wonderful sexy underwear and I am so happy to have a studio where they feel comfortable to wear whatever they want to in a safe, friendly environment.

Our studio is fully insured with music licenses, all necessary policies and procedures, risk assessments and safety procedures.

We are extremely vigilant with our health and safety and making sure all our policies and procedures are in place BUT our other top priority is to make the 4 white walls feel like each individuals home. Somewhere they feel safe, make friends and have moments in time where they can forget about the stresses in their lives and dance to their hearts content.

Empower Fitness Studio ( was The Studio – Alford )

We have literally just had a new sign and logo made – rebranding from The Studio – Alford to Empower Fitness Studio. Our main goal is that everyone that attends classes with us, falls in love with themselves. We want everyone to see the badass inside and to love their authentic selves, unapologetically. We aim to guide everyone to see the power is already inside of them, they just have to let it out.

We teach classes ranging from Pole & Lap Dance to Yoga & Pilates, all of our instructors started with us as students, and continue to help us grow our safe space. No filters required. During lockdown, we reduced the prices of online classes, to a donation based on affordability. We do not believe money should be a barrier to people being able to maintain the fitness, but most importantly, their head space.

Empowers Fitness studio Instructor, Emma, also works as a mindset coach, working with men and women with a wide range of goals. The focus of coaching is too help clients correctly align their energy with their goals, develop strategy for overcoming barriers, and focus on health, rather than shape or size.

Thank you for considering us, its a huge honour!

Just Dance Studios

Just Dance Studios

JUSTDANCE Studios was initially set up in 2014 with one small studio in Chapeltown, Sheffield. Predominantly a dance school for both children and adults we soon introduced Pole and Aerial classes to our timetable.
The company quickly expanded and by 2016 we had a chain of studios across South Yorkshire with a second in Wath-Upon-Dearne and a third in Wombwell. Offering various workshops, photo shoots, parties and shows there is so much more on offer than just an exercise class. Our last show saw over 50 Pole, Aerial & Dance students take to the stage where their families and friends could come and support them with their passion.
Every year we support Breast Cancer with a Dance & Poleathon and have raised over £6000 to date. During Lockdown we have managed to keep up with weekly Zoom classes helping our students to stay fit and motivated. We sent out vouchers for workshops when we return, and keepsake medals to thank them for their support and commitment during this time.
We take pride in helping people feel confident to do what they love and believe in themselves xx

Inversion Pole Fitness

Entrant Details

Inversion Pole Fitness

Inversion Pole Fitness is a studio built from the ground up. We’re proud to say we’ve grown from one woman’s business out of her car to a fully-kitted studio thanks to the tireless work and good values of Inversion’s members. Our working ethos is one of positivity, kindness, community and connection, where we embrace diversity in all that we do.
We aim to provide an inclusive, accessible and quality learning experience for our Inversion students. We’ve achieved all five-star reviews on Facebook and have many positive testimonials. For example, Inversion student Sam says, ‘As someone with multiple health issues, instructors have always gone above and beyond to make sure classes are accessible to me and I am included.’ We fundamentally believe that pole is for anyone and everyone and we strive to meet the needs of students by providing appropriate regressions and progressions. We also make sure to be flexible in the ways we teach so that everyone leaves a class feeling like they have achieved something, no matter their skill level or ability.

As many members of the team have a story about how pole has helped them, we’ve always had a focus on mental health. We offer free mental health days outside of lessons where we chat, eat cake and jam on equipment in a safe and relaxed environment. After losing a vibrant student last year, we knew how important it was to step up and provide even more support where we could give it. Several members of the team have taken part in mental health awareness and first aid courses, and we have a directory of resources to send our students to the right place should they need help. We’ve continued to hold the meet ups over Zoom during quarantine and have received a lot of positive feedback from the sessions, such as it is a ‘safe space to meet, chat and just be with like-minded folk’.

As an extension of this, we have an Inversion group on Facebook to encourage students to communicate and support one another, share memes and let us check in with them about their mental health. To develop our outreach and out-of-class offerings, we also hold open days where students can bring their friends and family and encourage them to join, as well as movie nights at the studio where we buy attendees pizza and watch a film using the world’s worst projector (it’s still fun!). We have fostered relationships with local fitness clubs to spread a message of self-love and positivity, which has opened up exciting opportunities and created a local atmosphere that is one of collaboration rather than one of opposition. We also offer pole and stretch retreats on a small scale of no more than six students, as this allows us to tailor the retreat to each individual while also providing a memorable bonding experience.

We’ve held several showcases over the years as we think it’s important for students and instructors to show all they’ve learnt and discover the joy of performing should they want to. Many students find this improves their confidence and helps them believe in their abilities in a way they might not have before. We also raise funds during our showcases for charitable causes, with all profits going to the selected cause as instructors and performers volunteer their time. The last one was for Little Warrior Alex, a local boy whose illness is life-limiting. Before lockdown we announced our plans to start a food donation point out of the studio for local homeless shelters and foodbanks, however we have postponed this for health and safety reasons until lockdown is fully lifted. We have fundraised for the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement with a series of classes, where a person could attend if they showed a donation receipt to our chosen BLM charity. However, we acknowledge we can do far more to be inclusive and are working to ensure that our studio is a good example to anyone who attends.

Covid-19 has impacted us all in many ways, and we immediately came up with a plan to provide for our students during lockdown. As we’re aware that people have been affected financially, we started a group over Facebook full of videos and tutorials that are accessible to anyone, with an option for donation. We’ve also arranged some free classes to thank the students for their continued support of the studio when lockdown first started. We’ve come up with several challenges for all levels and means for students at home, including a lockdown lollipop challenge, a super splits challenge and even a virtual showcase.

We certainly do not shy away from any type of pole and feel that teaching across all styles gives our students the best experience possible based on their likes and needs. We embrace self-celebration and have run workshops on ‘loving yourself’ by incorporating movement. We’ve hosted many photoshoots which we believe improves the confidence of our students and allows them to take pride in their pole progress with professional edits to keep for themselves. We’re particularly proud of our ‘Galentines’ evening event, where we taught body confidence, self-encouragement, lap dance and striptease, wrote self-love letters and even did some boudoir shots (followed by prosecco, of course), all accomplished with just two of our instructors. We feel our work demonstrates the tenacity, determination and creativity of our team and our company overall. We will continue to strive for quality and excellence in everything we do to create a community that always inspires and uplifts its members.

Studio Fly

Entrant Details

Studio Fly

Studio Fly originally opened in Ware in 2014 and has since opened a second site in Harlow. The studio ethos has always been focused on a strong family feel, a place where you can come and be loved and learn to love yourself. We promote the growth of self confidence far above any quick win moves or competitive atmosphere. There are over 20 instructors working across the sites teaching everything aerial as well as a lot of dance and supporting classes.

Fly now has over 200 adult members and 100 children members. We are a membership only club as feel that is the best way to really enhance the feeling of belonging and being a part of something amazing.

In addition to our members we also work with a local charity and provide non-profit classes for autistic children and their care-givers. We also provide private classes and parties for a wide range of individuals from homeschool groups to corporate bonding experiences.

During lockdown we have had a full online timetable of over 20 classes a week. This was not only to keep students motivated, engaged and give them value for money but also to provide an income for some of our instructors who work purely in the fitness industry as self employed instructors. We also opened a ‘safe space’ forum where everyone could share their personal stories and help and engage with others who had been through similar battles and trials. This started with myself (the owner) sharing my ‘road to Studio Fly’ story in the form of a live feed and then took off more than any of us could have imagined as people shared stories of abuse, loss, and mental health. The support for one another was immense and it allowed members to feel appreciated and understood during some of the toughest and loneliest parts of lockdown.

We have been prepping like mad for the reopening and have followed all guidelines and regulations to create the safest space possible. The new ‘normal’ may not be quite what we are used to but we are so excited to re-open and to win an award such as this would be an absolute honour as I (personally) hope for nothing more than to inspire and to encourage every person that steps foot through our studio doors.

Chrome Roses Pole Dance

Entrant Details

Chrome Roses Pole Dance

Chrome Roses Pole Dance, or CRPD (also known as the Palace), was created by Leah Rose in 2014.
We started running classes with Leah as the only instructor out of a community centre that, although wasn’t in the nicest part of the city, managed to start growing our gorgeous family vibe and supportive environments our students know today.
We now have our own space, our family of instructors and students have grown, and we are known for showing passion support and love to all who walk through our doors.

Today CRPD isn’t just a studio where you can learn to swing around a pole….its a community where you can make lifelong friendships, challenge your perception of who you are and what you can achieve, and change your life! We might be a small studio but we’ve got you.

CRPD has supported our students mind, body and soul through lockdown. We have thought long and hard about how we can keep our regular and new students strong, confident and positive during these strange times and offered an incredible range of online classes and a showstopper of a weekly quiz night to keep a positive family and community vibe.
This supportive way of thinking isn’t new as we have put on lots of “school trips” for students from belly dancing to go karting and our Christmas parties are legendary.

CRPD doesn’t rely on any one person and we aren’t interested in big egos or drama. We want to see each individual student and trainer progress, whether that is in baby steps or giant leaps. And we know that sometimes it feels like nothing is improving and we aren’t afraid to acknowledge that but we will keep you motivated until your mind and body catch up!

The Palace isn’t just a place we work out – it’s made up of the laughs, sweat, failures, successes, effort and achievement that everyone of us has contributed and we are very proud of that!

Whilst in lockdown then Neon Heights girls have been there for anyone who is needed them. Neon Heights hosted Instagram challenges for 2 months running motivating and bringing together locked down dancers from all parts of the world, giving out a total of 10 sashes to which people said was their most favourite part of the lockdown.
The studio is owned by Marie Dooney and Hannah Dobson.

Throughout lockdown their aim was to keep people mentally positive through the situation, keeping people occupied while being physically and mentally healthy. They haven’t been only a studio but a support platform for some of their future and current students and it’s been nice to know that they are able to come to them for support and comfort for when they have needed it.

All of this I, myself have done for free (I have not paid myself in this time) and have also been fortunate enough to have support and input from the most beautiful and talented instructor team during this time. We have had a large number of our students from our studio blossom from attending our wide range of classes and becoming not only experienced aerialists, but great friends with instructors and other students in classes.
We have a very varied age range from our youngest aerialists being 5 years old and our eldest being 70 (who could easily give our youngest students a run for their money).
Our classes range from Pole fitness to Aerial Hoop and a range of Aerial fabric classes as well as our kids and teen classes as well.

We are a large studio with 8 Xpoles over 4 metres high, 6 Aerial rigging points, and 14 hammocks. We pride ourselves on being more than just a studio – we are a community and a safe space for people to come and forget all their troubles. All the instructors are experts in their fields with a very diverse range in teaching backgrounds to give our students a variety of class feel. Several of the Instructors also hold Championship titles in Pole and Aerial. The Fitness Hangout has hosted workshops and Intensives with many UK and International Pole Stars.

Studio 901

Entrant Details

Studio 901

Founded in 2016, Studio 901 is a unique pole fitness and aerial hoop studio based in Milton Keynes.

Studio 901 is more than just fitness, it’s about giving the best to our students, physically and mentally. As the Founder of Studio 901 I wanted to give my students a fitness base that would share my love of all things pole. A base that could strengthen our student’s confidence, offer them awesome fitness facilities, and create a community that would accept all abilities, backgrounds and even attitudes.

In such a short period of time, we have evolved from a small studio based within a remote business park to a, high street facing, large studio. With a team of talented and trusted instructors, we have migrated from offering just small group classes and 1:1s, to large scale pole classes, pole workshops, and hoop and twerk classes.

And we haven’t stopped there.

From online tutorials to producing and supplying our own merchandise, we also offer pole parties and stretch/adult gymnastics classes, enabling our students to have an all-encompassing experience that continues to strengthen their bodies and mind.

Our ethos at the studio is courage, confidence, and community and thanks to our amazing students and our talented instructors, it has become the backbone in everything we do, achieve, and aspire towards.

Urban Circus

Urban Circus

Urban Circus was a happy accident founded by a 21 year old Natalie (me!) who had made friends with a couple lovely mums who wanted a fun thing to do for a 40th birthday party. Had it not been for these two wonderful women, I never would have started running classes, let alone opened two studios and had the pleasure of teaching thousands of women who have graced us (and disgraced us in all the best ways only heels can haha). I never would have made the best friends who filled my heart and my wedding party as they were from different generations and walks of life. Pole and aerial have brought us together and kept us together for 10 years! Our studio is all about community. Every shape, every age, every ability, every background. You can believe in what you want, so long as that includes believing in yourself. We truly are a circus family here and that’s something I’m really, really proud to be a part of.

We haven’t really ventured out into the wider community in terms of competing or advancing the sport. I haven’t got a list of exciting achievements to give you of medals we’ve brought home. The exciting list i can share is that we have helped incredible women find support and friendship through eating disorders, bullying, divorce, bereavement, unemployment and uncertain times. We’ve shared joy in pregnancies, weddings, achieving dreams and smashing stereotypes. We’ve taken that 40 something year old house wife who thinks she’s frumpy, and helped her realise she’s a goddess and pleasers and hot pants are for everyone. We’ve shown her she doesn’t need to be a size 6 to be sexy as hell. That’s our kind of exciting list of achievements.

Flow Fitness

Flow Fitness

Flow Fitness was set up in October 2017, by Aoife Byrne, in Dublin, Ireland. Two of Aoife’s top pole students, Laura and Kasia were asked to take a risk and join this new venture. They trained hard and became
instructors. To this day they have stayed with Flow, and have become like sisters. The goal for Flow was to be a happy place for its students. A place they can forget about their troubles, have fun and laughs, a place they can vent with no judgement, but most of all, a place everyone can enjoy themselves in. To see friendships build at Flow, shows how much we have all become a little family.

In these difficult and challenging times for everyone, for the students to feel part of something and know they aren’t alone is everything. Flow is a family. To see how supportive and encouraging the students are
of each other, makes it what it is. Everyone, from different classes and levels, all gel together and are one crazy bunch! We wouldn’t want it any other way.

VI-DANCE

Entrant Details

VI-DANCE

VI-Dance was found in 2009 in Dortmund in a 50 square meter office with 4 poles. The next pole studio was over 100km away and pole dance was not really known in Germany. A lot of people came and 2010 we moved to a bigger place. Although in 2010 we opened up our chain studio in Essen. 2011 we opened up the next chain studios in Münster and 2017 in Hamm. We grow to one of the biggest affiliated pole studio chain in Germany.
VI-Dance offers a great trainer certification for pole dance and supports the athletes who wants to take part in competitions with a special show training.
One of our first rules is, that all people are welcome in our studio and be accepted. We want to spread out pole dance to the world to each person it doesn’t matter witch age, size, skin-color, sexuality or gender. Everybody is welcome – this is our spirit and we believe that pole dance can bring all together.
The studio owner Vivien Feld was founder member of the ODPS (Organisation des deutschen Pole Sports ). She organized 5 years in a row the IPSF German Pole sport Championships to spread out the pole spirit and support the sport to get more recognition and acceptance. She was although many years an IPSF Judge and judged Steel on Fire 2019.

Karrie Pole & Aerial

Entrant Details

Karrie Pole & Aerial

Karrie set up her pole dance class company in March 2014. Starting out in a small room at a club house with 3 second hand X poles, you know, the old ones from back in the day!
She quickly got a great response and moved to a larger gym facility to cater for her busy classes.
KPF expanded to the neighbouring town running from a dojo, and in 2015 set up classes in another town in a beautiful ballroom with 4.5 metre competition X-Poles.
KPF branched out into aerial hoop classes, aerial yoga, flexibility training and in 2018 set up Europe’s first plus size pole competition Kick Ass Curves, for competitors size 16 and above, which has its next date set for March 2021.
A few months before lockdown Karrie signed for a huge run down industrial unit as a purpose renovated studio after 4 months of planning permission got passed. The lease started on the 1st if April 2020, and we were of course closed before then.
It was a terrifying time, with the council advising we weren’t signed in time to receive any help with grants.
Karrie set up online classes in stretch, pole, and some free relax and meditation classes to help with everyone’s anxiety and mindfulness.

As lockdown was in full swing, she took a job at the local food shop, began renovating the studio with her husband Dale, and was looking after her 2 children, 4 year old James who was struggling with the vast routine change due to autism, and 9 month old Emily.
After a few months family life settled, the studio started to look like the dream she envisioned, and finally received some government help.
With the studio being almost ready by mid May, Karrie decided to make a pole and off the pole challenge that everyone could take part in by recording and taking videos and pictures to give students the challenge and motivation via Instagram @karriespoleandaerial

Karrie was astounded that people in the UK and all over the world were taking part in the challenge which is something KPF had never done before.

Now we have an opening date, the latest technology in pole and aerial equipment from a wide variety of companies to keep training diverse, highly qualified instructors, new covid policies and plenty of space for distancing, Karrie’s Pole & Aerial are super set and excited about taking on our classes again.

And this nomination? The absolute icing on the cake! To get nominated and get through to the final round is an absolute dream, it really makes the blood sweat and tears absolutely worth it.
So eternally grateful to whoever nominated us, very emotional.
